Associate Director, Facilities

The Associate Director of Global Facilities Engineering is responsible for planning, estimating, coordinating and executing complex facilities projects across the Aerostructures business unit infrastructure. The position will interpret the needs of the requesting departments and impacted stakeholders, coordinate and oversee the design, permits, construction and commissioning of the project. Projects include: new facility construction, new buildings, building additions and expansions, building conversions and modifications, material handling systems, mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades move and installation of manufacturing equipment & systems, decommissioning of manufacturing equipment & systems, and site compressions.

The Associate Director position will also provide functional governance for Facilities Engineering across the entire Aerostructures business unit to ensure appropriate facilities standards are maintained and major project milestones are achieved on-time, within budget, and in compliance with required regulations. In addition, he/she collaborates with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure needs are understood and met.

Functional Governance:
  • Lead the Footprint planning processes for the business and associated short and long-term capex
  • Identify and execute high impact footprint projects for site expansion, modification and rationalization
  • Perform site selections and negotiate economic incentives for large scale investment projects
Project Planning & Design:
  • Lead the development of project plans, engineering design and analysis for all complex projects
  • Ensure the plans are compliant to all international, local and company codes, regulations and standards
  • Integrate activities with local site planning and development guidelines
  • Drive Facilities efforts to achieve Lean Manufacturing Concepts using the production preparation process (3P), assembly flow 1 & 2, and other lean manufacturing best practices
Project Cost & Time Management:
  • Establish conceptual and detailed cost estimates and schedules
  • Ensure cost estimates are supported by fixed price quotes for work performed by external companies
  • Ensure all external work follows appropriate contractual requirements necessary for the projects
Construction Management:
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained at all times during the project by all project resources
  • Validate all means and methods are aligned with the project plans as projects progress
Commissioning:
  • Drive a robust process for Startup, Checkout, Training and Occupancy handoff to the local team
  • Ensure project closeout obtains as-built drawings, operation & maintenance manuals, warranties, etc.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related Engineering field. Master's degree in Engineering and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification (PE) is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.
  • Ten (10) years Facilities Engineering experience with five (5) years in a management role.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining large world-class industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong project management skills with proven capability to consistently achieve project objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence diverse cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large complex products using a phase-gate methodology.
  • Results oriented, with a strong bias for action. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • International Facilities Engineering experience
  • Certified in Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma
  • Familiar with International Building Code, California Building Code, CCR Title 8, American with Disabilities Accessibility Guidelines, FM Global Loss Prevention Data Sheets, USGBC LEED Building Design and Construction
