Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer - New Product Group

Location: San Diego, CA

Joining the family means that you will be contributing to the design and manufacturing of systems and components for commercial, regional, business and military aircraft, helicopters and the international space programs as well.

Specifically, the organization needs a new, highly-motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join its Supply Chain New Product Introduction group in the San Diego, CA area. You will support the supply chain efforts for development programs in a fast-paced environment and be an integral part of bringing the new platforms into revenue service. Being a core part of the SC NPI you will interface with other teams including the program office, engineering, production control, customers and of course, the supply base. 

This position requires that you use your manufacturing experience along with industry leading tools to support supplier delivery of flight worthy hardware by working as an intermediary between the engineering community and the supplier. Key activities will be to ensure that the appropriate drawing requirements are available so that the supplier can execute on quality, on time and at cost; and working with the supplier to develop root cause analysis and countermeasures for failures.
 
You will also ensure on time delivery and quality via robust project management experience and tools; support program material/status meetings and production meetings as required; and travel to suppliers whenever required. This position also requires that you be an ACE participant and advocate. You will participate in ACE/Continuous improvement events and activities such as Value Stream Mapping or Kaizen events; and contribute to the ACE culture by implementing 5S and two way communications.

Requirements:
 
BA/BS degree and 4-7+ years experience is required; MA/MS degree and 2-5+ years experience is preferred. Must be team-oriented and able to effectively communicate technical issues to the team and management.
 
Other requirements include:
-  Knowledge of machining operations and fixture design/set-up
-  Knowledgeable about inspection methods
-  Good understanding of manufacturing tolerances
-  Understanding of Supply Chain processes, supplier interface and purchase order placement
-  Understanding of contract structures and business terms and conditions
-  Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
-  Project management experience
 
Preferred Requirements:
 - Experience in the aerospace industry
 - Experience with new product development
 - Knowledge of Continuous Improvement
 - Due to ITAR restrictions, must Be a US Citizen or US Person.
