Sr. Product Engineer

The Sr. Product Engineer supports all Product Engineering and Project Management related activities for multiple connector product families. The products are used in multiple and different military, aerospace and subsea applications. All product lines are focused on harsh environments for electro-mechanical equipment. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position will independently support and direct a broad range of product design activities related to the several different product families. The Product Engineer will have the responsibility for all technical project activities including high–level design concepts and detailed design. The Sr. Product Engineer will coordinate projects with the manufacturing team and lead a project team that will address design, quality, safety, manufacturing issues, and cost reduction measures.
 
Principal Accountabilities
  • Design feasibility studies, mechanical specification reviews, design failure mode analysis.
  • Develop and evaluate new design concepts, selecting and evaluating materials.
  • Perform detailed design calculations, building and evaluating new design prototypes, as well as the release of all engineering documentation related to the product design.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating manufacturing activities related to product developments with the manufacturing team.
  • Meet with customer on regular basis to understand requirements and to communicate status, and the coordination of new tooling development, etc.
  • Support new product proposals through performing Engineering analysis, estimate and proposal to acquire new or additional business.
  • Prepare for review, the technical/Engineering cost proposals, pricing BOM’s including review/analysis of customer requirements and specifications.
  • Establish part numbering and interface with our customers regarding technical coordination.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering Design or Product/Project Engineering in the connector or actuator industry.
  • Familiarity with connector design technology and exposure to the manufacturing process used in electrical connector manufacture (including molding, stamping, plating, and assembly) required.
  • Familiarity and experience with military, SAE and/or UL standards and test requirements that pertain to electrical connectors required.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, production quality control.
  • Strong product design experience.
  • Computer proficiency with Solidworks 3-D design required.
  • Proven ability to develop detailed configuration packages based on 3-D Modeling.
